Frozen Texas
The icy northern
winds
swept south,
Down to the Lone Star State,
Bringing ice and freezing rain.
A cruel twist of fate!
Cars are spinning off icy roads;
Bridges have been shut down.
Schools are closed; beaches deserted;
Power outages are all around.
Palms are shivering 'neath coats of ice.
The grass groans under frost.
We worry with our farmer friends:
“How much will this storm cost?”
Our northern friends laugh with revenge
For our brags of eternal sunshine.
But when south Texas freezes over
Can hell be far behind?
