BUTTERFLIES
My flowering shrub is dancing
With orange spots ’midst blue bloom.
For it’s hosting a butterfly gathering
And for more, there’d be no room.
They sparkle and flit in the sunshine
Like jewels in a bright gold crown.
There must be hundreds a-sparkling.
It’s the prettiest show in town!
Neighbors stop by to admire them;
To greet them with "oh’s" and "ah’s."
Weightless wonders, winged and bright;
How you bless us when we pause!
You make the leaves move gracefully,
And shake branches, short and tall.
You’re the delicate movers and shakers
Of your world, and of us all!
