EAU D’NECESSITÉ

We’ve just discovered a brand new perfume.
In future sales, there may be a quite a boom.
You can smell the aroma from five blocks away,
And that may be as close as you want to stay
Because it stinks. It doesn’t smell sweet.
In odor, it’s up there with sweaty feet!
One little spray could cost us our friends
Because of the awful aroma it sends.
But this year survival’s priority one
Because our tranquility’s been overrun
By hordes of small vampires on the wing.
Common name: mosquito (you know their sting!).
In thick clouds, they swarm you, causing confusion.
They draw so much blood you’ll need a transfusion.
So, we stocked up on every kind of repellant
To protect us from blood-thirsty beasts as we went.
We anoint our bodies before we go out,
You can smell us coming whene’er we’re about.
We reek when we’re walking; when visiting, stink.
"How can it be better?" we started to think.
A fancy French name, like expensive perfume,
Would make it smell nicer; less like a tomb!
So, now when you see us out, (please, no staring!)
‘Tis "Eau d’Necessité" we are wearing!
