ALLERGY
My husband’s allergic to cut grass.
For our son, it’s pollen that’s rough.
My sister has nasty hay fever,
But I think I’m allergic to stuff!
Clutter puts me in a panic.
I can’t breathe, just huff and puff.
I want to scream or run away,
Far from that noxious stuff.
Shopping gives me a headache.
To buy one thing more is enough
To give me the shakes or the tremors,
Because I’m allergic to stuff.
TV commercials and magazine ads
Are health-endangering bunk.
"Buy more!" "Of course you must have this!"
They insist over various junk.
"Why should I buy more?" I question.
Already I’ve too much, you see.
Why rent a locker to store it in,
And aggravate my stuff-allergy.
A pair of jeans, a pair of shorts,
Three T-shirts and four shoes,
A jacket, underwear, maybe a dress
That’s all I really use.
No allergy shots or pills for me
To help make my body tough.
Being a ‘have’ in a ‘have-not’ world
Makes me glad I’m allergic to stuff!
