T-SHIRT TREASURES

Some folks hoard money in mattress or bank.
Others buy up bonds or stocks.
Some invest in gold, art work or gems
Such as diamonds and other such rocks.
Collectors buy antiques, stamps or guns.
Some buy horses to show or to race.
Speculators throw cash into shaky deals.
The wise buy at the right time and place.
But we’ve no valuable collections or land,
Our wealth’s not in horses or gold.
Our treasure’s in T-shirts of many hues
and the memories that they hold:
-Spanish language school in Honduras
- a Caribbean beach hotel
- our church camp in Ohio
(ah, we know that place well!)
- Michigan’s International Bridge walk
- Texas’ wildflowers, bonnets so blue
- the Natchez Trace and its wonders
- Puerto Rican tree frogs, too
- a red New Orleans’ memento
of a Katrina-rebuilding week
- a "McCanalenburg Classic" bike shirt,
recalls the pain in my seat!
- a Canadian flag and Ontario shirt
- "Los Caminos del Rio" Grande
- "Nature’s Pedalers" tee in yellow and green
and some stains I hadn’t planned!
Our world and our minds grow larger
When these new adventures begin!
We’ll soon need a bigger closet
To store all our treasures in!
