CHRISTMAS QUESTION
On a winter’s warm and windy night
Two tired trav’lers stopped to rest
In busy Bethle’m’s barn.
There they received God’s gracious gift
For ev’ry person
ev’ry period
ev’ry place.
They welcomed a wet and wrinkled babe.
‘Twas Jesus, Lord, Emmanuel
God in flesh, Messiah, Word.
God with us,
God for us,
God in us,
God through us.
Mystery in a manger,
Wonder at work,
Awe and at-one-ment!
Must we understand it and explain,
Or can we just accept and rejoice?
