GOD’S EYE VIEW?

Yesterday we took a road that climbed up toward the sky.

We almost bumped our heads on heav’n, it went so very high!

The road was narrow, winding, full of ruts along its climb.

The forest thick and dark, and so we stopped from time to time

To rest, and see the lovely sights our tedious way enhanced.

The trees were dappled, sun and shade. Falling water sang and danced.

Far below a bright blue lake lay sparkling in the light.

On its shores, speck-houses. In its coves, some dots of white.

We finally reached the mountaintop. Oh, what a glorious view

Over the countryside and lake to the distant mountains so blue.

There at the top of the mountain was a mansion of elegant style.

We’d reached our goal and now were glad to rest a little while.

"Castle in the Clouds" overlooked the world; or so it seemed just then.

I wondered – drinking in the view – is this like God’s view from Heav’n?

The shade we fear is as beautiful as the sun we crave each day.

The upward climb seems difficult but there are comforts along the way.

The troubles which seem so large to us are but ripples in life’s sea.

The Creator on High has a castle strong. We’re all called to live there fear-free!

The Castle in the Clouds near Moultonborough, New Hampshire, was built in 1914 by over 1200 craftsmen for Thomas Plant.   This fabulous 5,500 acre mountaintop estate has breathtaking views, waterfalls, outstanding gardens, 45 miles of trails, and much more.  Thomas Gustave Plant (1859-1941) made his fortune in the shoe manufacturing industry, retiring as a millionaire at age fifty-one, having sold his business to the United Shoe Machinery Company in 1910.  Newly married in 1913, Plant then focused on the creation of his New Hampshire country estate.  In addition to buying the property known as Ossipee Mountain Park, Plant accumulated land from the Ossipee Mountains all the way to Lake Winnipesaukee, eventually owning 6,300 acres.
