RAIN DANCE

The tentative tippy-toe tapping
of the first drops,
The rain dance has begun.
Then, with persistent pounding
of its liquid rhythms –
and drums of thunder,
cymbals of lightening –
The rain dance picks up the pace.
A drowning deluge,
deliriously firing hail-shots,
The rain dance finale.
More suddenly than it began,
the rain dance ends,
and moves on to its next engagement.
