FALL

Nature’s working her magic again:
Making a full moon out of one thin;
Creating color in leaves long green
Declaring that summer is now a ‘has-been’;
Making days shorter; stretching out nights,
Dotting frosty heavens with twinkling lights.
She sends wild geese south in honking V’s
and squirrels to store nuts in hollow trees.
Out of nowhere, she makes pumpkins appear
In fields or on porches. But have no fear
Of the ghoulish Jack-o-lantern’s grin
(It’s only a candle shining out from within!)
Mother Nature makes our breath into mist,
As she turns down the heat for her long winter’s rest.
